Hi. Not logged in for a long time but still been a regular visitor. Just wondered if someone could give me some advice Re call centres.

At present I have an 0843 number provided free of charge which is overlayed to my home land line. I need to keep this number at present due to the number of items and the website it appears on.

Is it possible to divert such a number to call centre? At present it puts callers on hold and I get a call whisper to tell me it's a business call. Ideally I want a 24/7 call answering service and when calls are answered I want the operator to fill out the details onto my online form so it is then submitted to me via email. If it's possible any recommendations of providers and rough idea of cost?

Many thanks

With regard to the 0843 number being diverted you'd need to speak to the number supplier. I can't see why it couldn't be diverted, but it maybe you've been provided it for free because it's going on your home line.

There are not that many 24/7 answering services out there and none that I can recommend (as not used them). But you do need to ask yourself if you really do need 24/7. Do you provide an emergency phone line or similar that you'll be getting back to people at 3am on a Sunday morning? If the call answering service is just filling out the form for you to respond to during normal business hours, then why not simply have a out of hours voicemail that directs people to the online form? Or is yours the sort of service where people who expect to be able to call at unusual hours? (We once had a website firm not use us because they wanted 24/7 answering for quotes - but wouldn't be responding to the quotes until 9-5 Monday to Friday.)

I think I have a similar arrangement to yours.

All you should need to do it divert your landline to your preferred answering service and the calls to the 0843 number will automatically go to the answering service too. You may need to ask the 0843 provider to take off the 'put on hold' feature if that is interfering with answering calls.

I can also recommend answer.co.uk as a great answering service provider.

Hi,

We can help.

We'd simply allocate you a standard UK landline number to point your 0843 number to.

Our operators would answer in your company name 24/7 and either fill out your online form or send the callers details to you via email.

We charge £1 per call answered - pay as you go - 24/7 coverage as standard.

Any questions, get in touch :)
