Hi,

Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can calculate a tax code?

An employee has a tax code of 336T and he 'only' has a company car fully paid fuel!!!

I know mad.....

But that is the way it is, so I am looking at checking the tax code, as I can't see from looking at the Company Car Tax/BIK/Private Fuel how the tax code is down 624.

Obviously I understand the tax code will be low, because of the company car, but if it that much?

Many thanks in advance.

the employee's tax code is a private matter between them and the Inland Revenue. if there is a problem advise the employee that they might like to contact HMRC, but beyond that you can do nothing.

They may, for example, owe money in unpaid previous years' tax. If they do, you have no right to know about it.

You won't be able to work out the tax code without full knowledge of the employee's circumstances. There could be restrictions in the code for tax due for an earlier year, or for other expected sources of income in the current tax year. Even then, you can't change the code unilaterally.

When all is said and done, you have to operate the code notifed by HMRC and it's the employee's problem to sort out with them if they think it's wrong

There's also a good chance that it's simply wrong due to HMRC error, but not your problem

It's always wise to let the employee know you've had a new tax code from HMRC and ask them to make sure it's correct though.
