Just a quick question do you pay VAT/Import Tax on postage cost or just the individual item cost only, when importing items from the likes of China?

If you are a company, you have VAT charged at EU customs clearance.

You will pay Import Duty at time of entry on the cost of the products.
You will pay VAT at the same time on the total of (Product cost + Import Duty + Freight + Insurance)

Do you mean Customs costs or Import Duty?

Customs costs (to clear customs only) will almost certainly be paid to the freight company in addition to or as part of the freight costs.

It depends on which country are you in. There is a samll probability being charged duties for samll parcels.

About the VAT charge, you would be charged if you re company.
However, if you are personal use,
you might not be charged under some value of parcel, if over some value you still be charged.

Generally, there is not tax for small value and small package. Anyway, it depends on where you are living.

VAT & Duty should be charge upon importation although low value personal items usually avoid this especially if arriving by post. Larger items with higher value arriving by air or sea will usually attract VAT & Duty payable upon importation.
