Hi,

do you need a license to distribute cigarettes to buy wholesale? I've been trawling the internet and haven't really been able to find any info, except that you apparently need a license to buy them from costco

any info would be greatly appreciated!
thanks

oh right...i read (admittedly on yahoo answers) that you have to have a license. What sort of prices are they sold at? both in volume and for personal use by the way*

cheers for the speedy response

If you're looking to buy cigs for yourself then go somewhere like booker or makros, costco etc but you'll need membership.

If you're looking to sell them then I'd stop right now. You'll make pennies on each pack. I've spoken to the big four (imperial, gallaher etc) in the past when I set up my drinks CC

And no, you don't need a license to sell them..

No licence required, but as Pinkpurpleapple says, you will make pennies. Considering the cost of outlay you will almost be better off putting your money in a high interest bank account.

Added to that the cost of insurance for cigarettes i really can't see any reason aside from adding a string to your bow in the hope of making sales on your other products that would make it worthwhile selling cigarettes.

I agree with the other posters.

Most sellers just sell them as a service, plus it gets the punter in to the shop, where hopefully, they will buy some other items-newspapers/sweets/crisps Etc.

The cigarettes in Costco are not that much cheaper than the big supermarket chains, again, only pennies in it.

I just buy them when i am in there really, not to save much, just more convenient.

The hot dogs are nice and cheap tho,and very, very tasty :)
