I have found the most amenable person in the business to be the MD's secretary, who is rarely reluctant to talk about the company and it's operations, so provided you are 100% honest and upfront with your intentions you should get the MD's name, best time to call and a promise that your email or post gets seen. Treat them with respect and courtesy and you would be surprised how helpful people can be.

You could:

1. Subscribe on UKBF for £15 and have a live link in your signature
2. Open up a Linkedin account
3. Get your business registered in as many online directories as possible
4. Advertise in Business magazines
5. Do some Google Adwords advertising
6. I assume you have already dropped some leaflets
7. Of course our website is always a great place to find 100's of new ideas too, you can list with us as a supplier for free.

Exactly, its like the data protection act, you *could* get fined and it gets breached regularly but fines happen extremely rarely.
