Business Grants - 16+

Hello,

Apologies in advance if I have posted this in the wrong section. I was wondering if anyone had any advice for seeking investment under the age of 18. I am currently 16 and have a written business plan. However, it appears that Business Link and The Prince's Trust only accept applications for those that are over the age of 18.

Hi Richard - You are on a sticky one looking for investment if you are under 18. I used to deal with the Prince's Trust in a former life, and they won't touch you, although they may give you free advice. Have you asked at Connexions? They may be able to signpost you. I think if you are successful gaining a loan/grant, they will probably require a guarantor.
I wish you the best of luck, as in today's financial climate it is very hard even for us oldies to get funding.

You could also try Make Your Mark, a government initiative which promotes enterprise among young people.

I might be wrong, but I don't think legally you can enter into an agreement until you are 18. I have heard of pro sport contracts having to be signed by the parent or guardian. I might be recalling it wrong though.
