Business Development for marketing agency

We're based in Berkshire so someone local is ideal however happy to listen if you feel it could be done remotely.

No because this is sales. We do lead generation already but there is always more that can be done. Sales meetings, writing proposals, closing deals is sales.

Fair enough. IMO though, as a marketing consultant, if I had to pay someone to generate work for me, i'd think I was in the wrong business.

OK, but we are a growing agency so the more sales people we have the more work we should get to help our growth...

I'm not criticising, just thought you would be better off doing it yourself. If your strategic marketing is up to scratch, you shouldn't even need sales people. And I would never consider letting anyone else write proposals for me.

I think marketing is more about putting customers on the radar for the sales people to close down on.

Marketing alone is not enough but I'm biased..

I'm biased too mate. All I do know is that my business, and all the businesses I work for, certainly dont need sales people, as their marketing is so damn effective, it sells itself.

For a marketing company to need outside help to generate sales and write proposals is insane, but obviously thats just my opinion.

Marketing is different to sales. Marketing is there to generate awareness and leads, sales is there to close those leads and turn them into money.

I totally agree. If you have studied marketing , marketing it is creating the right environment to sell and it ends there. Sales is the next step.Depending on what product you sell or what industry you are in , you can have the best marketing but you still need great sales people.

I am sure they could sell just great but you know I can sort of put a website together and I can clean an office really well but I do neither (whereas I did both when I started the business)

The good thing (and the bad thing) about expansion is you stop having to do the things you aint so great at and do more of what you are.

They damn well ought to be able to sell and I bet they still will just less of it.
