We are with the Alliance and Leicester also and can't complain too much.

It would be nice to be able to pay cheques in over the counter rather than post them (you can't use their branches for business transactions).

Their internet banking works OK once you are used to it (it is easy to think you have completed something when in fact further stages are required).

If you need anything from them (loan/overdraft etc) you will end up with a pile of forms asking you for info they already have then weeks waiting or a decision.

Phoning them can be a pain, they have a dozen numbers, none of which sem to take you to the correct place.

All that said, I have never felt the urge to harm anyone so in at least that respect they have been better disclaimer:in our case than Lloyds TSB.

Hi Folks,

Only a quick one. Need to sort out a new business bank account today (nothing with problems with the last one!)

Just wondering if anybody got any tips who to go with?

Thanks,

Jamie

Hi Jamie

If you need to get an account opened quickly my advice would be to go into one of the high street banks. It will probably be much quicker than applying online.

I personally find Barclays service to be excellent but I rarely see the inside of the branch doing everything online.

I am also with A&L and also Abbey (both owned by Santander) and have absoloutely no qualms. Always get through on the phone (lots of numbers though) and always get my issues sorted quickly.

Abbey were a pain but they did sort it and now love them :D

Cant recommend Lloyds TSB enough, Ive been with them over a year now, before that i was with HSBC who i would not recommend, charges were ridiculous and had to use the automated machines to pay in as apposed to the counter, can be annoying when you've got a lot of coins and notes with a little corner turned up and the machine chucks it back up.

Hope it helps.

I have just gone A&L and all seems ok but there staff come across a bit think sometimes

I used to be Co operative but changed to A&L because they're free for now.
Nothing wrong with the service etc at Co op and there secure online transfers is a good system.
