Bulk direct shipping from China

(apologies for the vague title of this thread, but i'm not sure what the official term is!)

Production of my company's newest item is due to to finish in a couple of weeks. Originally, we considered getting our goods shipped to the Shipwire warehouses we use in UK, US and Australia, where the goods will then be posted direct to our end-customers.

However, in order to try and speed things up, we are now considering getting the goods sent direct to customers' individual private addresses (thus cutting out the warehouses which takes time and money).

Does anyone have any experience in this? Any companies you'd recommend? Are there also cost implications to doing this - e.g. can we avoid any duties and tax doing this direct?

Hi Pilsbury,

Dropshipping is essentially when you don't hold any stock yourself. You advertise goods, customer makes order and pays you, you order from your supplier and pay them and they ship goods direct to your customs (sometimes with your packing depending on what agreements you have with them).

You can ship direct to your customers from China - the only real issues would be cost (it might in fact cost more to ship individually from China than use the 3rd Party warehouse). and the fact that any Duty/VAT would have to be paid by your customer direct to the courier.

They will eventually try to make contact with them directly.

If you trust your supplier,you can ask them delivery to your customers directly.But if you only do first time,i suggest you do by yourself

I did lots of drop-shipping directly to UK, Australia and New Zealand, also I shipped directly to Amazon FBA biweekly, always used DHL. I guess if the parcel is small and low value, VAT/duties will be very little or exempted, as DHL uses a special "quick-release" channel for small parcels, no need official customs clearance.
