Hi all,

I would like to launch an online educational programme to my businesses offering, but I am not sure about who I need in order to build it. Is it a type of developer? Or a different skill set entirely?

For the little technical knowledge or keywords I have, I believe it's also known as an online product.

Thanks for any pointers in advance.

Hi Sam,

Perhaps you could expand on what the offering is? What services are you offering and how do you see these being delivered?

Jon
Hi Jon,

It would take the format of a 13 programme for twentysomethings to develop identity, meaning and self esteem in their work life (those are the key developmental areas from primary data).

This will be done through growing understanding and directing practical tasks which will be delivered through videos, and visual and written resources.

It will be a specific process, hence why I need a skilled person to translate that into an online product. I've seen a lot of online products that either don't deliver on the end goal or look very basic and I don't want to create that mistake!

Thanks for the reply,

Sam

Your going to require technical development skills, but also you will need someone who can create a great user experience. It's good to have a functional program but if it doesnt flow it wont be very popular.

It sounds as though you know what you want and if there isnt a framework which you think you could currently build this into then you would have to go bespoke. This would cost money so my best advise, unless money is no object, would be to start thinking about what it must have and prioritise the functionality so that you can get something up and running. Once you have an idea sit down with a developer/designer and scope out how it works and get to understand the cost and timescales.

Hope this helps.

The first question is, do you have the content i.e the videos, text, assignments etc? If you do, then you just need the framework.

I couldn't agree with this more. Plan out an MVP (Minimum viable product) and sit down with a developer to work out how much this would cost and get this live. This will then allow you to market an initial version of the product to see if it gains traction... so without spending too much on it you can work out if is worth more investment into the product.
