Builders/Scaffolders

Hi guys do we have any trained professional scaffolder's on here ?

I need help with a new venture re some rough approximate figures for :

How much can you expect to earn in a day erecting scaffolding for a 3/4 bed semi-detached house

Are you paid a flat daily rate per job or the size of the system ?

How much scaffolding would be needed to safely erect a workable platform covering the front/side or back of the house averaging 20 metres in length.

Is it best to buy scaffold new or used if it makes a differance ?

My uncle is a scaffolder - I was amazed at how expensive it is.

Would depend how many lifts you need, but I think the formula is something along the lines of £12/m/lift soooooo

£4,000. Probably. Not sure how many lifts you need.

Hello, with regards to your 'venture', which I am assuming is a scaffolding buisness, I would say that if you don't already know all that, and don't have any expirience with scaffolding then this is not the venture for you.

When it comes to buisness stick to what you know.

As above really, i'm not sure it's as simple as just buying some scaffolding and starting up a scaffolding business. Most around here have been working in scaffolding and construction for years, they train as apprentices and then work up to running their own small business...but...you're entitled to ask the questions.

The last company to setup scaffolding for us was £300 for the front and £400 for the back (not as easy to access) and that was for 2 weeks, think it worked out quite cheap actually.

Estwig will know more about this kinda stuff. :)

Im a scaffolder with 12 yrs exp and my own firm, it would depend what purpose the scaffold is for i:e roof work or re painting/ rerender etc access for wagon to site there are many things to consider when pricing, I try to explain this to customers who ring me asking for a price over the phone quoting "Can I have a price to scaffold a house"
