Aaarrgh!!!!!!!!!!

We have all the lines coming into our building at a single point/junction box.

Whenever we have BT engineers come in to work on other tenants lines, on the last 3 out of 4 occassions (today being one of them), when they leave, they mess up some of our lines.

Today we lost our main number (4 lines), and 2 others, so 6 total. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the building, or would've made sure all our lines were checked before he left.

Now we've had to raise a fault with our provider (not BT) who'll put a call to Openreach to fix the issue. BT can't help, as though they provided the line and Openreach did the work, it's not their line to fix. We've been told we'll have to pay some ridiculous amount of money if the fault is at our end etc. £125+VAT for the first hour per line.

I'm really angry at the disruption the incompetent openreach engineers are causing our business, especially at this time of year. It's not the first time they're doing this either.

Anyone had similar experiences? I've half a mind to try and claim compensation for this - there's just no excuse.

i have been waiting 3 months for a phone line to be installed. we needed a wire delivered first to put in a trench. That has taken 3 months. been told it was on a truck and should be there in the afternoon. Then told it was never ordered then told mistake in computer system and on the way. then told never ordered. 14 different dates for connection. averaging 6 hours on the phone every week for the last month all fully logged.
They just love the oh it isnt part of bt and completely forget their duty to sort out subcontractors especially when they only use one.
unbelievably bad

Hi OP

Now we've had to raise a fault with our provider (not BT) who'll put a call to Openreach to fix the issue. BT can't help, as though they provided the line and Openreach did the work, it's not their line to fix. We've been told we'll have to pay some ridiculous amount of money if the fault is at our end etc. £125+VAT for the first hour per line.
I would check this. If the fault is on the DP (box outside) then you are not liable for the fault, therefore you should not need to pay for the fault. Where your lines come in, if you remove the front plate on the internal box, plug in a phone to see if you have a dialling tone. If no tone then the fault is nothing to do with you and to do with BT Openreach.

When contacting your provider, ask them to ask BT how many line can be connected from the DP. The problem which can happen is if there is an under ground fault on lines coming to the DP, when they swap lines, they sometime accidental swipe your lines. Most DP's are designed to handle provisioning of two lines per property and if like yourself, some businesses have more, there may not be enough lines for all services.

Good luck with your problem.
