When I used to do Cat 5, it worked out at about £40 per point, seems to have got rather cheaper now with a lot of sparkies doing cable pulling. Not that Cat 5/6 cable likes being pulled with quite the same vigour as good old twin and earth power cable.
I wonder if a cinema might not have the potential to be large enough to go over the 100m limit. Certainly might be some long runs though.

Yes, one time you could roughly get around £60 a point however we have found that electricians will virtually do this for nothing to get their own work.

I would say you would be looking about £35 to £40 a point for a good price, alternatively on a day rate you should be looking to get £300-£400 to make it worth your while.

I'm not sure that electricians do anything for nothing, it's not been my experience that they like working for free. They have the same material costs as anyone else, but I suppose they might loss-lead data cabling to get something more lucrative.

What they don't generally do though, is a high enough standard of work to make sure the cables, especially on the longer runs, are able to support very high speeds. They can be quite rough with the cable, turn it round corners too sharply, and pull it into ducting a little too forcefully. None of this becomes apparent at the time, because few of them seem to have decent test equipment to certify their work.

Yes I may have been misleading and don't want to offend any electricians, however we have found that what they will do in negotiations is make it look like they are performing the network cabling for free/extremely low price, there real costs are hidden. To the client it then in there eyes seem sensible that as they are pulling the electric cables through they may as well do the network.

We have seen some appalling jobs that we have taken over after the install, on one job the quality of cable used was in such a poor standard, the copper had looked as though it had been over oxidized or something as it was so brittle you could literally snap the copper wire with your fingers.
