British Telecom - Complaint

Hello

I have an ongoing problem with BT, my internet stopped working sometime in January, so I contacted my internet provider (02). They informed me our telephone line was being moved to another telephone provider, hence the reason why the internet had stopped working.

I then contacted BT (my telephone provider), who incorrectly informed me that I had cancelled the line. After going back and forth, they gave me another excuse, that I had given a telephone provider permission to take over my line. After 8 weeks of discussion they admitted a ghost number was picked up on the exchange server. I wrote a letter of complaint to BT to which they have not apologised or accepted they were at fault. I have asked them for compensation which they responded with an offer of £36.

I sought to take the matter further so I went to my local CAB, who informed me that I should write to Otelo who are an independed complaint office for Telecommunication companies. However Otelo is funded by the Telecommunication companies, so I doubt they will be inpartial in deciding whether I'm due more compensation from BT.

Have anyone gone through Otelo and have successfully been compensated from BT. Is there any other avenue I can explore.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

BT are the worst company I have ever dealt with.

Finish your contract with them, then find Steffan at Rydal communications. I have just moved all my lines over to them; cheaper monthly bill, and if I have an issue, I can speak to a human, Steffan in fact, rather than a call centre!

All you need to do is Google 'hate BT' and there are pages of cases like this - the problems I have had with BT in the pass is just crazy, I wish you all the luck but sadly these massive companies simply don't care - sad world we live in!

Hello All,

Again I cant agree more with all the comments above! - Working with any reseller is usually better than dealing with BT because you not only save significant money the smaller companies offer support and help that far out weighs that given by BT.

When you are shopping around for a new supplier, I would love you to put Amelix Telecoms into the mix www.amelixtelecom.co.uk - We offer 30 day contracts to all customers as we believe if we offer great service and even better savings.

Do shop around for your quotes as you can pick up same deals and as we all buy through Openreach the service levels are perfect.

If anyone has any questions relating to Telecoms I would love to help.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your wonderful comments.

It was only the other day, when I was on the phone to more than insurance, I realised the pain of international call centres (India), and the HUGE benefit it gives us over the likes of BT. Its OK for oversea's call centres to be dealing with general queries but trying to get something slightly more technical resolved is a big issue (especially for more than). I know this is the same for most BT customers.

I think this is the case for all companies that outsource there call centre. Trying to cut costs can sometimes loose you some very good quality business. (I guess the monopoly BT have doesn't really make such a difference).

We have grown over the last two years as a business and pride ourselves on customer service (like most SME's). Like any business you cant keep everyone 100% happy, but I would like to think most if not all of our customers are happy.

We do offer some really good rates which can be found in brief on our new site which is just about finished. This is for your business lines, business mobile & broadband.

If you have had any issues with BT. Please don't hesitate to contact myself or send myself a private message. I will be happy to advise what's best to do in any situation......even if your in contract. You can also call into my offices and ask to speak to me directly on 0845 224 7017.

Kind Regards

Steffan @ Rydal Communications
