This may be the wrong place to post this so please move if needed.

Guys & Girls our you getting fed up with the cost of Fuel and Food. We our having a protest for the General Motorist on the 19th July in bristol. Please goto www.demodomain.org.uk and sign up on the forums to find out more about action we our going to take.

What, exactly, is the point? What good will it do other than hurt the companies that sell food and fuel - as if they aren't hurting enough already? The only thing that will make a difference is to vote for candidates with credible solutions. If the government makes policy based on demonstrations, the result is ultimately mob rule.

What would your solution be Steve? Let the Government do whatever they like until the next general election?
1) Change our daily habits. For example, combine errands so we have fewer journeys to make. Eat more fruit and veggies that we can grow in our own gardens.

2) In every election, vote for candidates with sensible long-term policies. In particular, vote out those who insist on playing havoc with our food supply by converting corn and other crops to ethanol.

The bottom line is that there's little the government can do in the short term to lower the price of fuel except pressure the US government to drill for its own oil or announce plans to build new refineries.

Demonstrations will hurt local businesses, reduce worker productivity for the day, and generally have a negative effect on the local economy, thereby making things worse.

Let me correct that. They could halve the 160% tax on fuel tomorrow morning.

Still, that message needs to come across sensibly. Demonstrations in the streets will just promote populist ideas such as hurting the oil companies, and politicians will laugh at that. Instead, urge people to write to their MPs or meet with them to express their concern.

How much are you paying in the US for a gallon of petrol Steve?

As for MP's, now we're finding out exactly what they've been doing with taxpayers money, as far as their own personal finances are concerned, well, they don't exactly instill confidence when it comes to expressing our own concerns.

So we should be growing our own fruit and veg. I wonder if that thought ever crosses the mind of the MP when he's out spending £750 of taxpayers money on a TV for his second home.

There should be more protests, and I'm totally behind this latest one.
