Hi, we are looking to try a new product from a Chinese supplier, however they are stipulating an MOQ of 500 pieces. As this is a new product to market we are reticent to spend £20,000 on a first order, even with the 'golden sample', contract in Chinese, factory inspection etc. in case the product simply doesn't sell in this country.
Does anyone have experience of ways to reduce MOQs with Chinese factories and traders?
Thanks
Paul

    Hello Paul,

Yes. But it may not help you of course.......

Could I enquire with whom are you dealing with in China; direct with factory sales person? With intermediary trading house? With interpreter? Another?

Who will you be paying money to?

    Hi Paul,

    * If its a genuine manufacturer, he would not negotiate on MOQ much.
    * If its a trader who stocks the product, moq would be a bit more negotiatble
    * If you really need to test the waters and the product is not too unique, you can find it from "market based traders" and hire an inspection company (like ours :p) to source it for you, before you are confident you have the quantities to deal directly with the manufacturer.

    * Its important to verify if the supplier is a trader or a manufacturer to begin with, as quality control very much depends on this.

    Hope it helps.
