Hi all,
i have a limited company (design consultancy) and want some advice about running a second business. This business will be a technology trading company online.
Can I run the second business as a brand bought to you by my Limited Company?
OR should I run the second business as a separate Limited Company? If I do the latter, the location for both companies is the same. Will this cause any issues?
How does the tax work if I run both Limited Companies?
If I do this as a brand, then is there any advice on protecting the brand?
Any advice will be appreciated.

    1. You can run it as a brand or part of your existing company or set up a new company
    2. As someone who works in design you should already have a good understanding of protecting your brand, but as you know trademarking is an option
    3. You will need to speak to your/an account about taxation and the most effective way to run your businesses.

I have several small companies and I have always run them as separate legal entities. It can cause some disadvantages in the early stages but it does give you the flexibility to be able to isolate your other business interests should things go bad in one of the companies. I know that sounds like negative thinking but I think its important to protect your core business and therefore your main income.

    It all depends.

If benefit of having access to the main company assets is bigger than risks, then go for a brand.

    Otherwise create a new business.

You can have as many business at the same location as you want.

Each company has its own accounts, those are separate entities and they do not affect each other.

You may trademark your brand at IPO.
