Brainwashed Britain.!

But why do that to someone who's already got an ongoing unpaid job, lasting far longer than two weeks, that's giving them valuable experience? It makes no sense.

For people who've got a can't-work-won't-work attitude then fair enough, but not for an already pro-active jobseeker.

i wouldnt do it to someone like the woman in question.
i see no difference in working for poundland for 2 weeks and working for the museum ..
clueless

my brain to this day cannot see any logic as to why they thought working for benefits at poundland was any better for the country than working for free in the museum ...

i look at that thinking and see why we are where we are .
because of one mistake should not mean it cannot be corrected .
rome wasnt built in a day

She was working in a Pen Museum as a part time voluntary worker. This will obviously give her experience in reading and writing, which many graduates desperately need if their CVs are anything to go by.

This would be far better than working in retail, a sector where value is actually added, and where she would be forced to learn skills far below someone who has a Geology degree.

(Geology degrees are of course very useful in the Writing on Stone Tablets section of all good Pen Museums.)

It's a measure of how brainwashed the country has become when people who have had an expensive education are made to do work that should only be done by plebs. Sure, the plebs should work on minumum wage and pay tax so people like her can claim benefits, but they'll still vote Labour, so who really cares.

How silly of me. Managers of retail outlets are, of course, world-renowned for taking on university graduates for minimum wage (rather than thinking "I'm not hiring her; in six months she'll be after my job.") And what they absolutely wouldn't do, under any circumstances, is take that person for two weeks cheap labour and then send them packing back to the Job Centre.

Obviously.

i find this comment offensive and no better than saying only a certain type of ethnic should do only certain jobs.

How can the comment be deemed as offensive?

There are jobs out there that are best suited for ethnic minorities, that is without a doubt.

For instance:

I personally couldn't be a mullah (or shaman) but I could be a Reverend.

The problem with today's society is that some people are just so Politically Correct that it's becoming a bit of a joke... some folk seriously need to get a grip and stop taking things so serious... I mean, when I was at school I was a bit of a rogue, ruffian whatever you want to call it... I had my bus fare home stolen by an older asian lad... so, I sparked him out based on the fact that he was a thief and deserved a smack on the nose... I was taken to the head teacher who rang the police and reported a RACIST attack?!!

When the police arrived they asked if I wanted to call my parents, I said sure and while you're at it make sure they bring Stephen.

When Stephen walked through the door, the officers looked at each other, laughed and closed their little black books and said things won't be taken any further and told the Head teacher off for wasting their time!

How can I be charged with a racist attack when my brother is as black as the ace of spades!

:D

I guess what I'm saying is that people need to think before they reply, is something being said really what you think it is... or is it a factual reply that you've taken as something that it isn't.

Taking Ethnicity to the extreme really there hmmm if you ask me.

Take Heredotus for instance, he is said to the first to mention ethnicity by defining Greek Identity. He lists kinship as ὅμαιμον - homaimon, "of the same blood" - ὁμόγλωσσον - homoglōsson - Speaking the same language.

I have bolded the most important to me... We are all of the same blood, therefore as far as I'm concerned whether you're black, white, red or green doesn't matter to me... we're all the same... although if you are green, there's something seriously wrong with what you're eating. :D

being best suited to a job is fine ive no problem. being told that only a certain type of person from a considered pleb class should be the only ones to do certain jobs is clueless and at best class dividing .

im like you when it comes to being politically correct. but the statement that ONLY PLEBS SHOULD DO CERTAIN WORK is not in the bracket you speak of.
just because someone has a so called intellect does not mean they have any common sense or more able to do other jobs that a so called pleb could not do.

your little story i guess may well be missing a little piece of fact such as the guy may have said it was a racist attack and didnt even mention his thieving.in doing so the matter had to be investigated .

this has nothing to do with politically correctness but everything to do with police investigation .......

yes thinking when replying is very important as you say

Re: post#43.

I'm sorry. It's my fault completely. I should have put an Irony Alert at the start and end of the post, perhaps in SHOUTY CAPITAL LETTERS.
As I say, sorry. Mea maxima culpa.

(No sarcasms or ironies were hurt in the making of this post.)

you are forgiven x

ive also misled you as the big letters were not shouty im far to nice for shouting. they where just ment to stand out . again my mistake for not bolding them
