I have been thinking some new business idea which i can startup without much of the investment.

I was sitting and wondering where are the best industries in today's marketplace to be a middleman. It used to be one could be a broker of anything but the Internet has cut out the middleman in many sectors of business. I have to believe that it has also created new opportunities for being the middleman though. Any ideas on where this business model still works?

I can only think of the countries where supply and demand is.

In the passenger transport industry, middlemen are a plague.
They dominate the internet advertising space with large investment in SEO to ensure they are at the top of the rankings and then hand out all of the jobs to the suppliers nationwide and take a cut for themselves.

The customer is none the wiser because they believe that the broker is in fact an operator, as that is how they portray themselves, and are often sent any old rust bucket when they were told it would be "executive".
But for them its too late as the broker already has the money and the supplier is left to deal with the complaints.

For the record, I don't drive any old rust bucket but there are still occasions when the client is told that there will be tables and/or a toilet on my 15 seater minibus!

Rant Over!

So that is my experience of middlemen, but good luck to you. ;)

The idea that you are thinking can lead you a good opportunity. Unfortunately, I also do not know where this business model still works, maybe you can search for any resources like in the internet, Google to be specific. Good luck with that idea anyway! :)

If you cannot see room for the middleman then you could try to make room. See if you can act as an agent for companies of a similar service and self promote. If you can offer a business sales with them paying you then they are going to be happy, its your job though to

a) Get the best rate from them, so you can be competitive
b) Not just buy at a good price, find someone to sell to!

There are some huge companies out there that are nothing more than middle men!

I actually think you've come to the wrong conclusion re: the internet killing middlemen.

In fact, I believe the internet has created the era of the middleman. Admittedly, not the smooth talking reps in BMW's of the past, but rather a tech-savvy, marketing-guru type.

All you need:

1) An industry that has barriers to entry that your customers may ordinarily find unappealing/difficult.
2) Something of high quality, but low cost
3) A website promoting that product/service as your own product

I can immediately think of a few. Good luck.

Regards,

Charles
