bookepping using quickbook

Hi Pam

I work as a bookkeeper and I really like it. It's easier to use than Sage and has pretty good reports. I'd say it was easy to use as a beginner, although you do have to have a basic knowledge to know how to set up your chart of accounts.

It has a reasonable help system built in so if you get stuck you can usually find the answer. If you do something wrong you can just delete it and start again (unlike Sage)

I know a lot of people on here use Kashflow as an online solution, which is very user friendly for beginners so maybe have a look at that too? I've had a trial and it's easy to use. You can log on anywhere you have internet access which is an advantage if you work in different locations.

The big advantage of Quickbooks is that if you sell online using ebay or Zen-carts you can import all of the transactions a big time saver for me.

The disadvantage is it is not that easy to use, you will need to spend some time getting to understand how to use it. For example I'm still unsure of how to handle credit notes with it.

I have no experience of any other a/c package, so I can't comment on how it compares.

I'm also considering which software to use.

Quickbooks Pro has been recommended by my suppliers who run the same business over sea's, but my accountant recommends Sage Instant because thats what they use.

I'm looking for user friendly software to handle everything in one place:

- Stock control / Inventory item details
- Ebay/Website/Telephone sales all in one place
- Vat & tax returns
- Suppliers / Customer accounts
- Invoice templates etc
- Bank accounts

Any suggestions appreciated
