Bonjouno, Yasoo, Bonjour, Hello

Hello all,

This is my first post on here so thought I'd say hello!

Just read through some other posts and what a friendly forum this is!

Little bit about myself - my name's Stephen, I'm studying a PR degree in the North East and I'm currently in the early days of starting my own consultancy.

I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone could answer?

I've thought of a name I'd like to call my business, but after a little research I've found there's a company in China with the same name? :(

However, I've checked on formationshouse.co.uk and it says this name is 'provisionally available' but it then goes on to say 'but this is not confirmed until you get the certificate from the registry'. :?:

Does this mean I could go ahead and register the name?

Also, my second question is.....how much does it actually cost to register a name? Don't want to sound tight but living on student's budget I have to!

Any information anyone can give would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Stephen

Well my original business name that I wanted was provisionally available. But after payment had been made it turned out that it wasn't available.

Best to phone as the web can sometimes be out of date.

Hi Stephen and welcome

If there is not a company registered in England under the name that you wish to use then you will be able to form a company using that name.

In fact people often get away with registering very similar names as it is down to the original company to object to the use and very few even check the records.

As for the cost of formation if you have looked at formationshouse then you will know how much they charge to set the company up.

Although I know that there are others slightly cheaper if you look around
