Better to PPC advertise on Google search results or Google Shopping for UK online retailer?

We're considering marketing a small UK online retailer of mid-range watches on Google.

The PPC budget is relatively limited.

Would it be better to PPC to Google's search results, Google Shopping, or, despite it obviously being more work, should we try both?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

The more eyes you put on your product the better.

Google Shopping - Google Ads - Re-Target Facebook and Google Network.

You PPC budget should not be limited - it should work along side your sales. If it's working you keep putting money in until your conversations starts to suffer. By limiting your budget you are also limiting your sales.

It depends on the product being sold, how expensive and competitive it and the market is.

As webprojectuk says, it's likely that doing both will have a better return, the only way to really understand is to carry out proper research and then test the results via actual campaigns.

As an aside, it seems like an odd question for an experienced digital marketing agency?

Google Shopping works very well for E-commerce shops. As long as your feed is optimised with the main keywords in the beginning of the title. High quality pictures.

I worked on the Virgin Mobile account for a while and they only did paid search. Off course with enough budget but the ROI was not very good. Added Google Shopping and the CPA dropped significantly and the ROI increased.

Next to that need you need to start working on SEO as a long term investment. Paid Search shouldn't be your only traffic source.

Mid-range watches... I am not sure Search PPC is the way to go. At the end of the day they are lifestyle products, tastes differ and without seeing the product first, you are paying for visitors to blindly walk into your shop.

I think there is a place for shopping ads, but there are hundreds of companies dropshipping/selling watches online, so I guess it depends on your place in the market. Are you selling branded products that are cheaper than others have them for sale? Yes? Google Shopping! No? Maybe Not!

If the watch brands you sell aren't recognisable you may want to consider building brand awareness using social.

(I am also concerned that you claim to be an award-winning, results-driven agency, and you couldn't figure this out yourself?)
