Best way to take regular small monthly payments online

I'm considering launching a service that will cost users between £5-10 a month. The service is purely online. Users will submit card details and pay monthly (like, for example, Spotify). At this low price point, a significant percentage of the monthly fee will be lost to my payment provider.

Can anyone suggest a method to receive payments that will minimise this loss?

I know that getting people to pay annually / quarterly (and offering a discount for them to do so) is one solution people use, but I'd really like it to be a monthly transaction

Thanks in advance for suggestions!

if your a startup testing the water, paypal is a good place to start.

After you have some figures, then look at direct facilities that use gateways and merchant accounts, search recurring transactions, or repeat authentication

Streamline and sagepay will do it cheaply but you can also use sagepay as a sole provide, and there are many many others.

Or you could use 3rd party direct debit one options is:

It may be that Paypal is the place to start but I would still look to see if you're able to get a merchant account at this stage. We provide the payment gateway service and you can can set up automated monthly billing. We can also assist you with the application for a merchant account and shop around for you to get a competitive quote.

With regards to the fees for our gateway it's one the most competitive packages around with no set up fees or hidden charges. We also provide a personal account manager with free on-going setup and integration support.

PM for more info or if you would like us to get a quote for you.

Marc.

We have experience in processing payments in this particular sector. However to give you a realistic quote I would need to learn a bit more about your business model. I can arrange for my colleague, who specialises in this area, to drop you a line if you are interested... if anything it will give you an idea of a payment provider (other than PayPal's) rates for this business model (if you haven't got some already).

PM me if you would like further details.

All the best

the chespest way and more proffessional would be by standing order, Get you customer to fill a form and send it back to you, You send it to your bank job done, and it don't cost you a penny ;)

Downlad a template and just edit it to your requirements

Hello, Guilder. As PayPal is most commonly recommended by the forum users, please let me offer CS-Cart e-commerce solution which is integrated with PayPal to set up such monthly payments.

As you would like to charge customers yearly/monthly/weekly, CS-Cart recurring billing feature may suit your needs. Recurring billing is a tool for creation of subscription-based products with the ability to define initial product prices, billing frequency and time period.

Subscription plans can be applied to any number of products, and each individual product can also be associated with several subscription plans.

If you are interested, you can contact us via our official website to get more information about the feature.

Hi Guilder,
paypal looks like the best option for you,
they have varios options which you can
choose.
Pick the lower one which is free to sign up.
You can always upgrade later.
I did not know paypoint offer this service
we use them in our shop.No harm in taking
a look and seeing what they have to offer
also.
All the best Brian.
