Hi

I am looking for a payroll software (ideally free) to manage no more than 2 employees. Have had a look at HMRC Basic Tools but it does not do payslips.

Is there a better alternative or is this the best one to go with?

Thanks

For such a simple payroll (2 persons), Sage is way over the top and very expensive. More suitable options would be Moneysoft or 12pay. Neither are free, but the price is reasonable. There are plenty of free ones out there, but most won't do payslips - that's where they make their money, from add-on charging. You could always create a template on a spreadsheet for payslips and then you could us the HMRC freebie.

I cant recommend any free packages but as Philip has mentioned Moneysoft is very good - fairly priced and does the job well. I'd certainly take a look.

BrightPay looks very good. I have also come across Phroot. Does anyone have experience with this?

As there is only going to be 1 employee, I am considering running the payroll myself and a free solution would be good. If I have to pay for it, then I may as well let someone run the payroll for me - something still to consider.

    Thanks
