We have a online store with Volusion (UK based customers). At the moment we don't have a merchant account and are only accepting payments by PayPal.

However now we want to accept Visa/Mastercard payments directly. Can anyone offer any advice with regards the best merchant account to go with that can integrate seamlessly with Volusion.

I noticed Volusion offer their own payment gateway solution with fees of around 2.17% per transaction, with no set-up or application fees.

Are there any good comparisons with regards costs/fees etc and reviews. Can anyone offer their experience with such companies....

Not sure if its still the case but if you join the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) they used to have a deal with Streamline to get vastly reduced transaction costs. You can use Streamline with most of the major payment gateways (Worldpay, SagePay etc) but you will need your own merchant account with Streamline first. Might be worth a go?

A good starting point would be www.cardswitcher.co.uk also it will depend on what your projected monthly t/o will be if less than £ 500 PCM look at Stripe or PayPal if more than look at a combined Merchant account / Payment gateway solution which would work out more cost effective.

There are numerous recent threads on this subject if you search this forum.
