Best business bank for customer service

We're currently with Santander and I dread having to call them. There have been a few events in recent months that have been handled very badly.

For this reason, I moved my personal account to First Direct and my credit card to Amex. I have been very happy with both. First Direct don't do business accounts though.

We don't need credit, card payments are processed by a third party, interest rates are so low that credit interest is irrelevant and almost everything is electronic. My main concern, therefore, is customer service. If I can save a few hours here and there by speaking to someone with a sensible IQ and some customer service training, I'd be happy.

Expected turnover over the next year is about £200k. Are there any business banks that offer small businesses good customer service?

I've always been very happy with my business account with The Co-operative Bank. Not much good if you are a person who likes to go into the branch as they don't have many branches but if you are happy with online banking with the fall back of phoning the call centre then I think they are hard to beat.

I don't often phone them but have always had excellent service when I do. Usually the customer service agent can solve whatever it is on the spot. Once they needed to pass me over to a supervisor or manager and that person sorted things, once the right person was not available but they promised a call back within x hours and that was what happened and the person calling back had been properly briefed, I didn't have to go through all the explanation again.
