Interesting situation I am in at the moment. I have been promoting a brand for a while now, nothing big just putting their name out there, arranging reviews, contacting dealers etc. They have no representation in the UK at all apart from me although we have not set up any official deal. I also have a popular website which fits the niche of this brand perfectly.
The situation has arisen that in order to promote them further they really need to have a UK distributor but what would that involve? I would not need to hold stock as that would all be sent direct from the manufacturer who make the product themselves and keep stock in their own facilities for distribution to their dealers in other EU countries and further afield. They have no dealer in the UK right now...which is something I have been working on for them. I have a lot of contacts in this particular sector.
I have absolutely no idea how all this works though. At the moment I am a central point of contact for the brand in the UK and we have discussed various scenarios of how we can work together in terms of making it profitable for both sides but we have not actually nailed anything down.
Some advice would be very welcome. If I were to become the UK distributor what would that entail from my end...given I don't need to hold stock? Or would I be something else, not a "distributor" as such but...what?
The thing is I am arranging a magazine review at the moment and it's all going well but the magazine have asked me who they should list as the distributor and I have a feeling If I can't give them a name it may scupper the whole thing. This is an important publication and can do wonders for the brand.
Any suggestions?
