Yep I use wordpress for My Blog

Host it yourself so you can customise it any way you want.

There are so many plugins available for Wordpress which makes it a really flexible platform.

I'm with WP but I guess it depends on what you're used to & your technical ability. I've been told that blogspot is simpler if you're going for the non-hosted blog.

I suggest you to go for blog-spot as it is Google's own child and will easily index in Google search engine...

Forget about Blogspot, use a self-hosted blog.

Depending on your requirements I'd say use either Wordpress, Expression Engine, MovableType or Textpattern.

Wordpress and Textpattern would be the easiest for a novice.

The replies advocating self hosted Wordpress have come from computer workers, (web designers, software sellers etc).

If the OPs level of computer literacy is not this high and the needs are for a fairly vanilla blog, which is true for the majority of bloggers, Blogspot or Wordpress hosted are more than adequate, and probably a good introduction to the whole blogosphere.

I know of several successful Blogspot blogs, and ran a hosted Wordpress one from 2005 with reasonable success. Not everything has to be uber-tech.

Less can be more.

I'm a bit techie but still prefer Blogspot. Blogspot is super easy to use. I also don't want a blog integrated into my website, for various reasons but mainly because my website is used as a portfolio by my agents so I want the blog content distinct from that. I could be wrong but i feel my SEO is helped by links from a different domain too. Their new static pages mean I can now have a "site" of content on the blog too.

Wordpress and Textpattern are super-easy to use. You don't need to have it integrated into your website, why not run it on a sub-domain? i.e: blog.mydomain.com

Also I have recently finished a site for a client with an integrated blog. The client also had a Blogspot blog.

Both have same content and their own hosted Blog is far better ranked than their Blogspot account.

I dont know how it compares, or even if its very good for seo etc, but it is very simple to use and they even install it for you.

 

I'm using WordPress (self-hosting) for my new personal blog and am finding it great and easy to use.

Wordpress is pretty simple to use, but Blogspot is even easier.

Our blog (http://dotsandspotsdesign.blogspot.com/) is on Blogspot, but I now wish it was on Wordpress as part of our main site - all that regular, new, fresh content could only do the main site good, but with 175 followers, even more visitors and lots of regular contributers I'm loath to move it in case we lose some in the move.

In my opinion, they are both very good, but there are more visiter in wordpress, but there are more function of blogger, in this case, I opened the both bolg, they are all very good.
