I used to be a bathroom designer for 10 years, it is VERY competitive.

If you can get some good suppliers with good discounts your in with a shout.
But the market is saturated with very cheap bathroom suites.

My advice is to go for a particular style or niche of bathroom suite, then be the very best supplier for that market.

You will also benifit from getting a couple of good fitters on your books so you can offer a fitting service, without it your just another person selling bathroom bits and pieces to the general public. There are millions of people doing it on eBay ect.

Offer a good service, with your niche product and you will stand a chance.

If you want any further advice just PM me

Totally agree, the real money for a small independent is in offering a full design and installation service, little things such as workers who clean up each evening can set you apart.

There can be a big mark up on certain items, i Know of small bathroom companies people regulary use, they are in a hustle an bustle location might i add.

There key to success is buying in bulk, when it comes to supply and fit side i would get a couple of good fitters and work on a commission basis every bathroom you get them they give you 15%. But emphasis on good fitters.

We are in this business and it has went absolutely cut throat over the last couple of years. One of the big companies seems to have every one of it's branch managers running their own websites in competition with their own employers.
Tread carefully.

I think others have already said everything, but I thought I would just give a simple reply.

I would say no don't start a bathroom buisness, unless you have a unique selling point, which I assume you don't because of your question. The reason why it is a majorly bad idea, is because if I wanted to buy a bathroom I would go to bnq, or somewhere like that, and get a nice bathroom, that would be fairly cheap in price.

Although I would like to know if you have any skills, or experience in any other areas, and then maybe we could help you with a buisness idea suited to you.
