The youngest Microsoft Certified Professional was ten and she could manage complex coding, even met Bill Gates aged 10. You may have heard of her recently (sadly she passed away).

This said if he is naturally intelligent get him started on plain html, javascript and CSS don't dumb it down but make it interesting. Get him understanding the basics and good coding at an early age, he will thank you for not putting him on a dumbed down software developer kit when he's older.

Well, you've got a lot of solid advice in this thread I hope you take some of it on board.

I wouldn't complicate things with "software" that performs a sub-standard job when you have plenty free tools available to do the two parts that make up "web design" (text editing and graphics creation).

Hi,
try PageFlavour. Our son uses it and he's 10. It's really easy and to be honest most designers use content management systems rather than building from scratch.
There's a really cool camo theme that he might like.

Personally, the easiest way to get a site up is via Wordpress. Generally regarded as the best user friendly platform for non-techies, 100% free and hundreds if not thousands of free plugins to make sites look/feel/perform well :)

I wouldn't have him use anything like Dreamweaver. It's too complicated and not necessary.
Create a WordPress website and teach him how to use that.
