One of Amazon's compulsory requirements to create product pages is to have a barcode for the product being listed. As the products are imported from the far east this does not come directly from the manufacturer. Therefore I require a few barcodes without spending tons of cash on these numbers. I believe the main supplier is gs1 and that involves tons of cash for a small seller. Can someone please offer an alternative or offer some help to resolve this issue.

Kind Regards

Hi there, I can help as I have been in the same position as you!

You can buy blocks of 10 barcodes which is both the UPC & EAN numbers needed to list on amazon. Once ordered you get a ZIP file with all the barcodes and a copy of both .JPG and .AI files for packaging etc.

Cost of 10 Bar Code Numbers $47.50

Sorry I cant post links yet, as I am new to the site!

I looked at this a few months ago and decided to join GS1 because the prefix belongs to me in the thirteen numbers, although it is cheaper to use a service there is no "back up" if the code is incorrectly issued... by which time you have X number products on the way already printed.

It wasn't that expensive relatively speaking to join GS1 and I found it easy to use, there are several barcode generators out there but choose a good free or cheap one which generates several output formats.

Hi,

I have been in a similar position for a while, selling on Amazon via "Sell yours" links where I am allowed to do so.

Obviously this has prevented me being able to sell my own stuff uniquely via my own unique ASIN number.

I don't need to put the bar codes on my boxes as we manufacture & ship to end user and therefore it really is just for Amazon.

The above link was really helpful and works out cheaper as I only really need about 15-20 barcodes, solely for Amazon's purposes.

Going to buy now on the site link and see how I get on...

And the quick update is.....

...... you can only buy if from the States and Canada.

So anyone else got any really quick solutions to purchasing 20 EAN/UPC numbers that allow you to sell your own product on Amazon.

Its a shame as they would have only cost me £30 from America.

Will look at GS1 now I think
