Barcodes... and related shenanigans!

I need barcodes and what little research I've done has me confused.

I see people selling barcodes on eBay... how is this different to buying barcodes from GS1, for instance?

Separately - barcode printers. I need a barcode printer that prints labels in sheets rather than one at a time. I suppose there is software for this - for PC's etc. I have looked at Zebra printers but they all seem to print one label at a time; is this right? It would take too long to operate in this way.

GS1 is the originator and controller of barcode numberss in the UK. Those sold on eBay are not registered to you.

There are two parts to barcode shenanigans. The number and the artwork. I use 'Barcode Blitz' http://barcode-blitz.en.softonic.com/ for producing the artwork.

For sheets of labels you can use the free Avery label software.

Thanks for the advice; the barcodes sold on eBay; how do they work? they buy in bulk from GS1 and sell on the numbers? It sounds dodgy to me :/
