Barclays ltd company account ...

Hi i have a question about setting up a new account, I was signed up for a limited company account 5 years ago by a dodgy accountant firm, in a nut shell i didn't have a limited company account to be paid into so i stopped using them after a couple of years when i got wise to it.

I then opened a new limited company account with Barclays, set up a new company but because i didn't have the information to file from the previous tax year (old company) that i needed to file my books properly ,the new company got struck off straight away .

I am now in a position That the first company that was set up by somebody else 5 years ago still exists , i still have an account for it but it has not been struck off (though i am seeing somebody about this to sort it)

To get paid i need a company account and i have been told i cannot use my old company account to pay money from my new company into as 1. i am doing a different job and 2. it's a new company name.

I have an appointment with the bank on Thursday as they tell me i cannot open a new business account online because my old company has only just been struck off and they need to interview me to see if my new company is just a continuation of the old one ?

what does this mean for me? does it look like the company i have just set up cannot have a new bank account ?

I have been with Barclays six years, no debt, no overdraft, no credit and my credit score is 100%

any help or advise would be great

Possibly try another bank?

When we started up I tried to open an account with Barclays, for no obvious reason they just didn't want to know us. Took weeks and weeks, only for the account manager to suggest that perhaps we try somewhere else. I never got an explanation as to what the problem was.

I applied online with Lloyds, and within a couple of days, no questions asked we had our business bank account opened.
