Bank Account Problems! :(

Hi Guys,

I've started a new ltd, with assistance from the Princes Trust.

Personally - I've had a fairly clear past, however due to a relationship breakdown I do have a £1700 CCJ from Jan 08, and one for about £500 from 2004. I've never commited any illegal activites or been to prison etc, I've jsut had a couple of financial mishaps, and I'm desperate to get myself back on the straight and even!

The business is up and running, with a clear business plan and requires no financing, and not even a chequebook.

I've applied at most banks and been refused, however I was informed that RBS/Natwest were offering a basic business account - (not credit search dependant)

I applied, and recently I've been rejected, I've managed to speak to the head of UK business banking and he has been helping me out, he found out that on the application I either didnt put down all my addresses, or some of the addresses I did put down had come back with me as no trace... (possibly where I've lived with my dad a few times over the last few years...

I've since checked all my addresses for the last 8 years, and I think that they are all in order, all bar a few months here and there - however I cannot at this time confirm if all addresses were on the original application form...

The Business manager has told me that because the system has flagged up incorrect addresses I will never get an account with RBS/Natwest....

So my question is simple, how can I get a bank account? I keep getting cheques paid to me in the company name, and I have to send them back and request in my personal name, however I dont think I can keep doing this, as its against the banks company policy to have a personal account usedf for business accounts...

Please help :(

HI

I don't know anything about CCJ's and how they affect opening business bank accounts.

I know Bank of Scotland offer a business bank account that has just a cash card not a debit card so they may allow you to open account as there is noway you can become overdrawn with a cash card as you can only withdraw cleared funds.

Hi Alison,

Thanks for the advice, however Bank of Scotland is owned by HBOS / Natwest so I think its all the same lol...

I will apply though :)

Give the guys at princes trust a ring. Otherwise. make your dad or whoever a director. (you dont have to give him shares or pay him). He then applies and adds you as a signatory with only one signatory needed. Once you are up and running he can drop out.

Hi Akash,

I'm not sure if you missed what you were actually going to write, or not, but all you did was quote part of my original post regarding the Head of Uk Business Banking within RBS/Natwest

Hi,

Thats how I managed to get to the RBS/Natwest Guy... Via the princes trust, I applied in March 08 and only found out on tuesday this week about what was happening, and I'd been ringing them 2 or 3 times a week...

So PT got on to their contacts and managed to put me in contact with the chap...

I could make my dad a director, except when you apply you need to give the directors info, so the only way to bypass that would be remove me as a director, and make him one, then apply, then change the directors about again.... just seems daft! there must be a bank who can help :(

I've seen these guys mentioned a few times - I am not sure how they work but it looks like they set up a business account for you for a fee and you are basically guaranteed acceptance.

Hey,

Yeah I have seen them, and it seems to good to be true! I emailed them to ask how they can offer guaranteed acceptance, but never got a reply, which obviously put me off them slightly... but if they can do it then its the best £169 i think i could ever spend!
