Bad Barcode Experience

Hi, only joined the forums a few days ago and my first post is about a bad experience. I was reading posts about needing barcodes from April in the forums last week and someone was complaining about the cost of GS1. At the bottom of the thread was a suggestion to use getabarcode.co.uk

Well, first off, I don't think GS1 is too expensive if you are serious about business, I have used it before in a previous job and it all worked smoothly with Amazon. In this new job I have constant listing problems with Amazon because we don't have barcodes - thus I suggested to boss we join GS1 and he wanted a cheaper option and we ended up following the suggestion on the thread here to use getabarcode.co.uk

We never received the order we paid for which was supposed to be sent by email within a couple of hours, I tried phoning and twice spent 15 minutes listening to "you are in a queue" on an 0843 number running up a bill and getting nowhere. I emailed support, sales, and from their contact form online and finally got an answer over 24 hours later - stating the order had been sent and check my spam folder.

Now it would have been simple to resend those barcodes in another email but they haven't done so, we still have not received the order and they have not responded again. Their customer services is quite frankly pathetic.

In a totally separate situation that made our 'barcode day' worse, we were contacted by the bank about the credit card a couple of days later. A few hours after we used our credit card on getabarcode.co.uk over 30 attempts were made to use the card for several thousand pounds. In no way is this activity being attributed to getabarcode.co.uk, the bank has suggested virus activity on our computers stealing info, but as the IT expert here with over 20 years experience in computers, hell over 30 years if you go back to the Sinclair spectrum days, I can be pretty sure our computers are clean. It is under investigation as we speak and as yet we have no clear idea on what happened, again let me stress that we are not suggesting that getabarcode have any connection with this credit card fraud but it just topped off a rotten day trying in vain to get a response from getabarcode.co.uk for an order we still have not received.

If only the boss had listened to me when I suggested GS1 we would have barcodes to continue listings on Amazon. But right now we have no barcodes and no credit card to join GS1. So in future if barcodes are required for your business go the route of GS1 where you own legally the barcodes and EAN numbers.

Can someone help me please? I have become a member of GS1UK and have listed my products with the codes on amazon and this has gone well. I am concerned that I cant print my barcodes, the file that is downloaded is an EPS file and I dont have the facility to open this unless I give it to my website designers which I dont really want to do, also I am confused as to what size and what particular paper I should buy to print from? I am totally new to all of this so any help would be really appreciated
Thank you :)
