Backlink source game changer ?

If correct is this a game changer for backlink data sources ?
seo spyglass now has it's own backlink index database exclusively for itself - which means you no longer have to rely solely on google or bing etc to try and get backlink data esp when Google only gives you a subset of any links found

It says "15 billion links adding to the index every day, this will become the world's largest index of external links in just a few weeks!"

(away for a week now - off to get a suntan so cant reply)

I moved away from SEO Spyglass because I found it to time consuming and there was better alternatives. I'll have to pop back over and try out the backlink db - that's why I moved away but I am paying quite a bit elsewhere but still have the license of SEo spyglass and its other tools.

P.S I'm off as well for the week of summer coming up. Enjoy it while it lasts UK!

I know other may have their own backlink datasource but none of them have them as big and as up to date as the spyglass one, I ran a test and it gives me the latest info on links that even Google doesnt - ie Google index says a link exists - however this is only cached information - in reality the link no longer exists - or has been no followed etc, using spyglass and buzzbundle for social seems to be a very good fit at the moment

Actually, Majestic is one of the best, with Moz competing hard, and many other rivals coming in late to the game.

For me the choice breaks down to simply this:

If you want the company that was original and smart enough to start doing this, you go with Moz, who built its own index first, many years ago, and have never stopped improving it.

If you want the one that is currently top-rated, and backed by people with literally decades of experience in SEO, you go with Majestic. Majestic's commitment is second to none, and should anyone manage to beat their index for quality and freshness, they simply work harder and re-take the lead. Superb infrastructure too.

Or you can find a cheap alternative from the hundreds of wannabes who copied the success of the others after all the original thought, business modelling, and proof of concept had been done by other, more creative companies - if you want to be cheap. :)

Just back from a very hot Spain- with internet access - which is somewhat scary and relieving at the same.... currently trying to find a fan - they seemed to have disappeared from every shelf of every shop I tried - mustn't grumble though.

From the blurb I got Spyglass uses both it's own backlink data source and and also has exclusive access to Webmeup's database - and between the two of them - they say they have the largest and 'freshest' link DB available anywhere. I use spyglass and have certainly noticed and large increase in link information. I havent used Majestic - but had a quick look at prices etc - majestic £30 a month ex vat, spyglass is £79.95 one off payment, you then pay (I think) , after 6 months you have to pay £30 for another 6 months worth of updates. Doing some very brief maths majestic works out 320 a year plus vat and spyglass would be £80 plus the 6 month renewal - so about 110quid. Would be good to see any comparison re new links discovered, additional info provided etc - anyone volunteering ? please step forward :)

Hello bluenun,
thank you for referring to WebMeUp backlink database.
The database is indeed huge, as billions of new links are found and stored daily, plus we check are they dead or alive and remove the useless ones.

WebMeUp backlink tool is now available to public and is free at the moment: http://webmeup.com/tools/backlinks.html
On this page it's possible to check 1000 links and get the rest in .csv upon sign-up.

Hey,

That tool is amazing. Just tried it out.

However, didn't work for 3/5 URLS that I typed in. I get the following error message:
Links couldn't be found for the specified site. Please make sure you've entered the URL correctly.

any ideas why this might occur?

Thanks.

Hi webmeup,

I have sent you a PM regarding a URL that I can't utilise.

Big fan of SEOspyglass. Know a few American SEO guys who easily make 6 figures profit a year and recommend this as their number 1 software. I have heard great things about moz as well but haven't personally tried it yet so cannot give you an opinion.

I second. It's the best tool ever. No other tool gives you the same depth of link analysis.
