Thanks all.

Managing the campaign isn't a problem. I was thinking more about content ideas, effective techniques for b2b newsletters, tips, things that businesses respond to in newsletters etc.

Of course, I appreciate that much of this depends on who you're targeting.

Hi Paul

I've found what works well is to demonstrate you know what your client's 'pain' is - for example right now it could be about getting paid in a timely manner, or how to bring in business during the school holidays - really depends on your niche market. Once you have shown you understand their problem, give them the solution (well, hint at it anyway), offer them something for nothing (a free report 'how translating your business documents can cause cultural faux-pas' for instance) - anything that makes them sit up and take notice.

Great advice, thanks Liz. I'll have a think about how we can really relate to the needs of our clients... they're a diverse bunch so it may tough, but I'm sure there's something we can do.

And thanks for the offer of feedback... I'll probably take you up on that.

Some of the best responses have been case study / reference led - where you take a case study apart for the targeted reader step by step to read. Then you could also lead with a targeted issue, as the previous person said - but again link it back to your case study.

As you're into translation - you could target ad agency companies (who manage endless translation projects) and explore a multi language case study for a well known client of yours - e.g say 4 or 5 languages at once project, delivered and managed etc for them for example. Then link this back to a news 'business win' article that is similar to the theme of your case study lead (demonstrating your popularity and other client commmitments) and then perhaps link it to a promotion (words translated per £ etc). This was your newsletter follows an intergrated theme rather than a collection of copy fragments.

Don't forget to link as much as you can back to your website. You could even offer a 'whitepaper' or datasheet in the newsletter and again the link points back to your website for a download. Loads of ways really of making B2B interesting - there is always one rule though. Think who you are targeting - FDs like FD 'speak' and MDs like MD speak... So write your newsletter to the target of the email - make your news letter as 'targeted' as you can in tone and content. If you need any help give me a shout.
