for the purposes of gathering opinion and reasearch we have submitted our patent pending software solution. Patent number:GB 9878648.

our uk based software development firm, are looking to implement a web based soulution that will allow aspiring musical talent to systematically upload their songs and samples on to a web based software, from which members will be able to rate those samples and then those songs will be categorized into a weekly top 10 countdown.

the whole reasoning behind this venture is to develop and unearth young talent from deprived environments to showcase their undoubted talents onto an easily accesible web based application. we will also undertake extensive marketing campaigns in order to gain the attention of the more larger production houses, both in the uk and also internationally. the service will be totaly free and will be funded by advertising.

any members that want to create their own albums, including cd covers and desinged, can do so, which allow their ssamples to be furthered on to the more established production houses.

Hi Johnny,
I doubt your patent application would be successful, as you cannot patent business methods in the UK. However, if you can find some way to make money out of this idea it sounds really good - will need a LOT of marketing thou.

I thought that there were many sites doing this kind of thing. Highly fragmented just as is the music market itself these days. Personally I do not fancy your chances in getting much take up of your solution as it is not hard to figure out how to do it (and MS is marching into the DRM area so strongly that most propositions will revolve around their core I would have thought).

I already have a site like this, it is currently going under redevelopment do to been hacked and had a change of name. I tried to patent the idea myself a while back but had no luck in doing so. Hopefully my site should be up and running again by the end of May.

Anyway good luck with patent and the site.
