Hello everyone. I would like to know the average time a person spends in a retail store if he/she likes the store. I mean is there a definite amounf of time to be able to say so? The time period from that person to go into the store and do some impulse purchasing and leave.

You'll also find, if you run a shop and have regular customers, that there are huge individual differences between customers.

Some people browse carefully (and may make one visit to the store just to look around and think over what they want to buy before coming back to the store and then browse again before finally making a decision). Some people only come into to a shop because they already know what they want and that you stock that item, these people rarely look at or are even aware of the range of goods you sell.

Some people have serious difficulty about deciding what to buy and the more they like your goods the more difficult they find the decision so they spend a long time in the store. Some people browse stores as a form of free entertainment, they mainly don't intend to buy but will regularly spend quite a lot of time in your shop.

Also while some things are generally true about the time spent in shops they don't apply to each individual. For example, as a general thing women tend to enjoy shopping and men don't so women will spend longer in shops than men, but actually some men like shopping very much and take a lot of interest in choosing products and some women absolutely loathe shopping and tend to be in and out of a shop as fast as they can manage.

What is 'impulse purchasing'? ;)

I go to a shop with a list, I buy what is on that list in the shortest time possible and then go home. Is there any other way of shopping :|

Impulse purchasing is when something catches tour eye that you didnt intend buying or is put in a location to attract you to buy. Your are typically how men shop, this is why wives/girlfriends hate their partners going shopping with them, they feel rushed. Women love going with other women because they can peruse.

I hate anyone who generalises :D:D

I hate going shopping with my husband because I go in knowing exactly what I want, get it and leave. He wanders around examining everything and buying stuff we don't need or really want.

I think it depends on what you are looking to buy, the size of shop. Sometimes I go out knowing exactly what I want so it's a quick process, other times I go out to be inspired which can be considerably longer. I think it also depends on whether you are shopping cause u need to get something or because u want to get something.

Thanks for that comprehensive definition, but the winky smiley thing should have given you a clue - I know what it is, I just don't do it. :D
