I recently needed to record a Teams discussion, but Teams did not, apparently have a record facility.

For reasons beyond my control, I had to use a headser and microphone. I recorded using a small voice recorder.

The recording has my voice perfectly, but the responses are almost inaudible - some words can be heard and there is always a background sound indicating someone else speaking.

Is there a cheap way to enhance this so I can hear the responses?

There are many ways to enhance audio but a great deal is down to the skill of the operator. A favorite software to use is iZotope, and you can download the full version for free; however, it creates a 5-second gap every minute. There are ways around this!

For regular normalising, I would use a compressor, and there is a choice of about five or six in Reaper. Again, a full version is test-drivable for free and with no restrictions. Possibly, the voices are muffled and this would require equalisation - Reaper here will do the job. BUT it is a fully featured audio workstation and may be therefore rather baffling to a layperson.

If on a PC, you could use the XBOX screen recorder (normally already installed) or something similar that should record everything.
