Hi All,

I was hoping someone could help if they have any experience with any assemblers/manufacturers in the UK/EU?

We are looking to integrate a high quality/lightweight monitor screen into the lid of a case.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks

Sounds fairly simple. What is the case made of is the first question? Will it need strengthening to hold the monitor and if so how much is going to be another consideration. Does the monitor need to be removable. How big is it and also case sizing. Do you require power or wiring work?

You need to get as much info together then I am sure you will easily find someone local. Depending on the answers would indicate best type of companies to approach. Many a handyman could likely do it though.

Thanks for your reply.

No, the screen would be permentaly mounted into the lid. The electronic side is fairly simple in terms that it is just power and a hdmi cable. Ideally we would like this all enclosed together into the lid.

It is a tough plastic case that is waterproof. Currently I have a 22” monitor on a prototype. But obviously would like this smartened up.

Hi Scott,

As ADW mentioned the more info you can provide to a manufacturer the better. If you don't have any design experience, simple hand sketched drawings of what you want would be fine. It sounds like you have a pelicase set-up for your current prototype and therefore should be a simple-ish integration. Depending on the manufacturer, some companies have in house CAD teams that can help formalise your sketches into 3D models or engineering drawings to save going to a separate design engineer.

Depending on the material you could try local fabricators (welding and sheet metal workers) if you'd like to use aluminium or steel, etc to keep the screen in place. Or if you're thinking plastics then a transforming/plastic specialist or precision engineering company could help?

UK manufacturers are helpful and if you're local it's always easier to drop in an take your prototype to them.

If you're looking for a sleek product maybe look into industrial designers?

Let me know if you need help.
