Are you advertising in Thompson Local??? Advice needed

5 years ago Google made over $100 million per day from people clicking on the PPC ads at the top. Many potential customers do click on them.

I'm not sure what the latest figures are for AdWords but I imagine it's about the same or more. Google, as a whole, made $75 billion in 2015.

Hi. As an online marketer since 1999 I have to tell you that most directories including Thompson, Yell etc are a waste of time and the people there try and tell you it will transform your business, phone ringing off the hook etc however from experience it is all b*llocks. By all means go for a free listing and proceed no further. They will call you, email you etc, its their job, but resist, paying for listing on these sites is a waste of time and you are better off concentrating on your own site, adding quality content etc, researching your competitors keywords, getting active on social media like Twitter and such like. I guarantee you that paying for enhanced listings on these sites is a total and utter waste of time

...forgot to add, make sure you have a verified google business page, a facebook account, google plus account, pinterest and so on, and don't just create the account and leave it, or create am account and then start spamming adverts everywhere, you have to ENGAGE with people and gain their trust and respect, which for many business owners, takes a long time to do. Good luck

If you have a small area or type of person/ business to offer your services to then one way to get eyes on your offer is plain and simple postcards. While they can be considered as junk mail, so is all advertising.
Nobody likes adverts, whether tv, internet, billboards or the sides of a bus.
we all actively hate adverts UNTIL we see one that interests us, I guess thats why they can work so well.
You may need to decide whether you want brand exposure like coca cola or bmw type adverts or you want specific targeted traffic to your offer, like direct response adverts, meaning finding the places where your potential clients are hanging out then offering them something that they cannot say no to.
The first type of ad I cannot help you with, the second I can.
An example could be offering a discount if they take specific action like clicking a link, offer 2 for 1 or bundle together various offers for a one off price, the list can be endless, you just need to get a little creative, hope that helps a little.
