Are quoted PaymentSense rates too good to be true?

Hi,
I am in pre-startup phase and am assessing the various card processing options out there and have been offered what seems to be a crazy low quote from PaymentSense. I have asked multiple times whether these rates will have authorisation fees, PCI or interchange fees on top and have been assured each time that these are absorbed into the rates.

I have been offered the following:
  • 11p per debit transaction
  • 1.1% for credit transactions
  • No setup fee
  • No additional PCI fees
  • No authorisation fees
  • No interchange fees

Does anyone have experience with this lot and are those rates above simply too good to be true?

P.S. Have checked the electronic contract several times and see nothing that would suggest there are additional charges in the small print.

Any help much appreciated.

Beware of Payment Sense also known as Payment non sense working with FDGL. You will end up in a complete nonsense situation. Never sign a contract with them. They are commission agents for FDGL. I have been a victim of thier scam. Now having a fight for huge cancellation charges. A real non sense company dont care about cutomers at all. I was doing very well with Barclaycard and one day one bastard representative of payment non sense turned up with very cheap offers. And i trusted him and problems started for me.Their representatives works on commissions will tie you in a worse contract( i have ever experienced). I was told there is no minimum charges which attracted me. And you know what first bill was a nightmare. The minimum charge was double what i was paying to Barclaycard. I rang payment non sense...they said u signed the contract. They will lie to you for everything after you will be bound in a contract. They will tell you that they have fired their representative. A complete mess. I was also promised such things. I signed the contract... Then this idiot returned the copy of contract after the cooling off 14 day period. When this bastard got his commission. Commissions are paid only after the end of first 14 days. I was surprised when got first bill. Which was far more than promised rates. Argued with payment non sense. But no solution because i have signed a contract. I asked them when i can leave not once but three times...and they said after 18 months without any charges. I cancelled after 18 months and they said you have to pay almost £400 in fees. A total nonsense . They sent me a DHL voucher via mail to send back terminal which i left myself at DHL office because they never booked one . But can u imagine now after a whole year a debt collector contacted me to pay the cancellation fees and a proof of terminal return. Total nonsense. They never told their fathers FDGL that my account has been cancelled and terminal has been returned. I am still receiving invoices from another company for epay. So please beware of these scamers. Better go for barclaycard a reputed company with peace of mind. They never charged me a penny in cancellation even after 8 months of contract. Or try out other options like handy terminal working even with phones but all depends on your business.Always check and ask for FIRST DATA GLOBAL LEASING OR FIRSTDATA MERCHANT SERVICES and if this company is involved stay far back. Many small companies are just commission agents of FDGL like RBS. I will not leave it this like . Now reporting it to FSA and trading standards agency with all records. These American companies like FDGL cant cheat people here in UK. None of them paying taxes.

It is an industry full of shysters and we have been caught a few times. Never deal with any of them by phone unless YOU are recording it. Get everything in writing - never sign a contract with any of them unless you have filled in EVERY space of the contract - never leave blanks as the reps will complete it themselves once you have signed. Always triple check cancellation charges and notice period. We now routinely give notice as soon as the contract starts but keep careful diary notes and don't miss a deadline. Keep your contracts as short as possible and don't worry about changing providers - in my experience they are all as bad as each other so the shorter the contract the better.

Of course, you read the contract thoroughly before signing it, right?

It's not the reading of the contract with some of the sales people- It's making sure they can't amend after you have signed it.

    - and use your own pen - and make sure it is blue, not black - makes it slightly harder to commit fraud (by photocopying, tippex, changing and re-copying). Yes, we have seen it

We have had one rep from one company change our Limited company status to sole trader (means they will chase you personally) and found another one using the pens that you can erase. The companies may be fine, it's the reps you have to watch. Trust none of them.

Get them to send you two original copies of the contract for signing, check that they are both identical, sign one and return the other.

Very very true...No i think this is the UK Governments concerning departments duty to have a check on all of them. There are separate departments to look for every business. But again we use to see blunders happening in every industry Banking, Energy and Housing etc.
These small companies are worst of all. They want to make millions and billions in no time. And small business community is vulnerable of all. From energy to telephone and card processors all cheat them. Sorry i forgot to mention the rubbish collectors. Business is failing badly in this country because of government policies. There is lot to pay but there are some coy boys from America. They dont care for anything and dont pay nothing in here. I know for some years back American embassy officials had to pay millions in London Congestion Charge. But they refused to pay. Might is right isnt it. But beleive me in this world there is exploitation for common man all around where ever you go.
Anyway You have to be very careful now. I dont know what i will do if i find this Payment nonsense Rep again. So dont be cheated. I will write a guide very soon on how to avoid them.

    Beware!!!
Payment non sense and First Data Global is a deadly combination for card processing. Stay back.

And that poster didn't say the contract had been modified after he signed it. Sounds like he didn't bother to read it before he signed it and just went on what the salesman told him.

I don't disagree with you about the OP, and I have been careful not to mention the providers we had trouble with. To be fair to them, they stuck to the contract they had. Its the salespeople who caused the problems but the providers also have a duty to ensure their commission based salespeople are controlled. I could prove they weren't and as soon as that was done the providers did the decent thing but unless they have controls, this sort of thing will continue to happen. Bad salespeople give companies a bad name. We should be able to trust the sales people and the training they have, but we can't.

You cant do much about it...when the rep and company are working closely to exploit customers. There are some companies which are really bad in customer service and one big example is First Data Global. They cheated customers in America and now its UKs turn. You can read many people complaining about them on US forums. One of them is ripoff.
Believe me dont use any companies working with First Data GL. I was denied quote from another company called XLN for card processing when they knew that i am already with some one who is giving me services through FDGL. This is how they work. How come you say companies are not that bad. There is no word invented to explain their attitude and hunger for money.
