Are Amazon deliberately confusing with their invoicing?

I've been selling on Amazon for just over 2 years. I get their end of the month invoices sent to me by email - just bog standard HTML. When you log onto your online account all the statements there are mid month, so if you've lost one of the emailed ones....you can't get it again.

Try and make a custom report to download and the fields are all over the place. The countries for most of the address entries are missing. In the same field as I'm getting a UK town I'll also get a European country or nothing at all.

I've always found Amazon's selling site itself archaic and their seller accounts aren't much different.

I went onto Amazon having read wonderous things about it here. It's been a total loss for me. Unless you're selling a product no one else has or selling it at the lowest price on Amazon, it's useless. Once you create your own listing someone else will come and piggy back on it and there's nothing you can do.

The reports work perfectly for me. Most of the amazon downloads are tab delimited, if you open them as comma separated the fields will be all over the place, could it be that ?

I agree it's hard to sell anything on amazon. There's always someone willing to go 5p cheaper on a 6p item ;)

I gave up on the reports because they were all over the place - and we sell very little on amazon. As others have said, too much competition on price plus ... Is it only me who finds shipping prices so difficl? I cn't gt a happy medium and we just sold 3 items to single customer where shipping will cost us £8 min and she paid £1.99 an item. The weight bands are just not flexible enough.

Amazon view accounting for the sale of goods as your responsibility. You have to generate your own invoices for the sales, or record your sales as you see fit. You can download a CSV file of the transactions on your account. The format is pretty messy but all the information you need to produce a sales record is there.

Like other posters, I get an invoice email at the end of the month. This is an invoice for the Amazon fees for the month. I don't known what governs whether you get this email or not, possibly it is linked to being VAT registered.
