I'm trying to source a wholesale Archery equipment supplier. I've found one on the Netherlands but ideally I'm looking for one that is UK based.

After three hours of googling I'm still looking so I've posted this on various forums include the wholesale forums on the off chance that someone can recommend some names or let me know where I can find themj as they are proving a little elusive at the moment ;)

    Suggestions welcome :)

Yep I did spot that. Merlin are a manufacturer of their own select range of bows and equipment, Chilter, Perris and Quicks are all retailers albeit established ones.

Boyton archery don't have a site and not much contact info that I can find online which puts me off slightly. I was going to contact KG until I read their about us page, kinda puts me off when a supplier doesn't update their own details...

http://www.jvd.nl/ is the one I've found which looks spot on, just waiting for some more info to come back but I would prefer a UK supplier if possible...

You have much to learn grasshopper.

The vast majority of distributors and wholesalers have terrible online presence. If you start ruling them out on that basis, you will miss out on the more established, old-fashioned wholesalers.

The best way of finding wholesalers is to identify 2-3 top brands in that niche, contact the manufacturer directly and ask them what their distribution model is. Some will want to sell to you direct, others will point you towards their largest wholesaler.

    OK good luck with it.
Didn't mean to be brusque then by the way and thanks for the response, just getting a little frustrated ;)

Fair point but take Hoyt as an example. They are the market leader for compound bows yet they only have two dealers located in the UK, both of which are retailers.

It's a fair suggestion approaching the manufacturers and a route I will take but it would make life easier and probably save some cash sourcing from a distributor ;)

This suggests that their preferred model is to supply direct to retailers. This is no bad thing, as it will usually leave you a bigger margin.

If there are suitable distributors, the manufacturers will know all about them and be only too pleased to tell you who they are.

    New venture?

    I see your point.

Yep it's something I'm looking into as away from the business I compete regularly in Scotland and there are next to no retailers up here. I did consider looking at the feasibility of a bricks and mortar store but thought it would be a better idea to get the online side established first...

Aint that the truth, presumably to keep the riff raff at bay. No offence Phil:D oh fellow bowman, top sport. Wonder if Sir Earl can find his longbow?
Yep I would say Earl would be a bendy stick traditionalist ;) Myself I prefer the slightly more geeky approach:

I get trade magazine through my fishing tackle business and the above company are always in it. If I get chance I will have a look to see if any others in there for you as it covers the gun trade along with bits of archery.
Thanks Dave, I appreciate that :)

Had a look through my trade mag just, and only other one that i can see sells some archery goods is www.sportsmk.co.uk. These sell loads of gun related products mainly i think but do show some bows in mag ad. They must be one of the biggest suppliers in general as they always have at least a double page spread every month and at the main show each year they have a huge stand.

Have a look anyway and see what you find.

    Cheers
    Dave
