i am in need of an online pament system so m clients can pay a diposit online. however i have had trouble with paypal in the pastdoes anybody know of an similar free software that i can use?

I've heard bad things about NoChex… I unhelpfully can't remember what they were…sorry

Worldpay is part of RBS so I guess firstly they're reputable and if you move to a merchant account through streamline they'll have had some experience of your trading history and may not cripple you with bonds etc… so there maybe advantages?

Damn I wish I had an affiliate link to put in apparently they're all the rage on this post!

I would suggest looking at Protx and Google Checkout. PayPal is very good but can be expensive unless you get a good rate for a high level of sales. Customers tend to trust PayPal and even the major high street retailers are using it now so I'd always include it somewhere.

Whatever you do stick to the mainstream providers as a good payment processor is essential for a successful website. Cutting corners here won't reap dividends.

The trouble with Google Checkout is that people have to register an account etc before they can make the payment. This is the same problem that Paypal had originally, and why some people didnt like using it.

Hopefully they will realise this soon and make provision to simply pay without having to register an account first. If they do this, I suspect they will become far more popular that Paypal for a few reasons...
