We've been advised by SagePay that we need to upgrade to V3 of their software.

We use OpenCart and originally installed their Module and set that up.

SagePay are saying this update is "highly technical", involves coding and should only be done by a V3 compliant developer. They have a list of developers but they aren't able to work on websites they haven't created.

So, it's catch 22.

Any ideas? Has anyone done the update themselves and how technical was it?

Thanks

Change Gateway provider, get better monthly pricing and rates to boot ! and avoid all the pain of making their new g/way work with your website..

What are the supposed benefits of the new gateway ? Is it going to benefit you or your Business ?

If you would like to find out more PM me..

I came up against the same thing so swapped over to Stripe. When I tried to cancel Sagepay they said I needed to pay 3 months notice. For what?

I'm not a complainer but there was no way I was going to pay that. I told them I was going to make a youtube tutorial showing how easy it is to swap to Stripe and they backed down after 24 hours.

You signed an agreement with a 3 month notice period, why are you surprised they asked you to honour that agreement ?

As for Stripe yes may be very easy to switch to but far more expensive to operate than SagePay with a conventional Merchant account, and longer settlement times.

Hi all,

We have lots of resources to support the upgrade from older versions of our protocol to Version 3 including what the main changes are, along with all the new features of V3.

You can find it all on our website. Just pop 'protocol migration' into the search bar at the top of sagepay.co.uk

The complexity and cost will vary from site to site, so may not need a developer to get involved.

Once the new integration is implemented, our support guys will happily help troubleshoot any issues you might come across as always.

We have just done this - we are using Opencart 1.5.4

This free Sagepay v3 module from Welford Media has worked perfectly for us:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route=extension/extension/info&extension_id=16868

1. Simply FTP the folders/files for the module across into your root folder.
2. Install the relevant module (Form, Direct, Server) from within the 'Extensions->Payments' section when logged into opencart admin for your website
3. copy your password from your old Sagepay module into the new Sagepay v3 one you have installed and
4. enable the new Sagepay v3 module.
5. disable the old Sagepay module.
5. Logout of admin and try a transaction (you will see the payment option shows Sagepay (v3) - if it all works void the transaction through mysagepay terminal to avoid being charged for your test transaction.

I didn't mess around with testing it in the test environment, just did it during a typically quiet period and it worked first time with my transaction so job done.

We use the Form version (ie. customer passed across from our site to Sagepay at the last stage). Can't comment on this modules performance with Server or Direct.

Put this new module in place yesterday, rang Sagepay after doing the transaction who confirmed we were now sending v3 protocol data. The red message has this morning disappeared from our terminal screen.

Had a good number of website transactions today so everything looks like its working fine.

Hope this helps.

I have had this over the past week. They like to quote their 'Terms And Conditions' that we have to give 3 months notice even though they have decided to change their system that means a high amount of people will have to pay a developer to implement the changes.
From my research it is only Sagepay that are performing these upgrades so is cheaper to change to another provider.
Worldpay offer a 30 day rolling contract at £19.95+vat per month (£5.05+vat Cheaper than Sagepay)

It seems a little extreme to be cancelling something due to it requiring an upgrade. Almost every platform you use on the web will be updated at some point for security (think Wordpress updates) or functionality improvements. Whilst it requires some additional effort, the updates for most e-commerce platforms to move from Sagepay 2.2 to 3.0 is little more than downloading the correct update package and hitting 'update'. The OP asked about Opencart and a quick search for 'open cart sagepay v3' yields an update which is free and could be implemented by any competent developer in about 10 mins.

I'd be happy to help if you are still looking for support - you don't need to go direct to Sagepay - far from it.

I used Welford Media for Sagepay V3 payment for opencart 1.5.2.1. All perfectly fine and now fully compliant, however due to Google's latest update regarding mobile-friendly we also implemented OM Framework mobile friendly into our site. Works great except Sagepay payment page isn't mobile-friendly and almost impossible for customers to enter their details.

Stuck between a rock and a hard place as neither Welford Media or OMF seem able to help. Can anyone advise please....

Hi everyone!

If anyone still needs a hand upgrading to SagePay V3, our developers can give you a hand. You can download our free integration module from the OpenCart extension store.

If you don't feel confident enough to install it yourself, our team can do it for you for just £40+VAT - we'll even throw in a free site audit (worth £40+VAT!) too to help you see what you can do to further improve your site.

Give us a call on 01133 506 099 or email us at info @ welfordmedia .co.uk to get started.

Thanks!

We have also had issues with this and now looking to change gateway provider as we do need a responsive gateway. I find it madness that they still refuse to resolve this issue.
Sage Pay wanted £140 to upgrade the mod which I find extreme considering we pay them £60+ every month.
Sadly the Welford Free Mod did not work for us and we tried a paid for version which also had issues and was a waste of money.
We did manage to get something working but not as we need it too.
