Hello,

I just recently downloaded and installed 'NCH Express Accounts' software to manage my business accounts.

Anyone else use this software and recommend it?

I have had a quick go and it looks very easy to use but just wondered if it would do everything I need it to do to keep HMRC happy when I submit my accounts at the end of each year?

Thanks.

Steve.

NCH looks like USA Bookkeeping software, so it is likely to fail to meet your requirements on 2 counts.

Firstly the kind of software that is suitable for managing the books of a company on an ongoing basis is rarely suitable for meeting statutory filing obligations, where the requirements are completely different. Software which can file accounts with companies house and HMRC is very specialist, usually only purchased by qualified accountants, and won't usually meet day-to-day company management needs.

Secondly any UK business except the smallest is likely to have detailed requirements for VAT compliance, which will only be met by software intended for the UK market, rather than the US market.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah, I agree.

I guess I didn't really mean whether it had a button you could push that would generate HMRC & CH ready reports, I just wondered if it was any good for dealing with recording incomoings, outgoings, expenses, balance sheets etc so that I could easily produce reports on these figures and format the data for HMRC/CH...

Thanks for the advice. I hear what you are saying about it being US softwaree.

I have just registered for a free 30-day trial with Accounts Portal and this seems to be UK based and looks pretty good.

Does anyone recommend this as an accounting solution?

Thanks.

Hi Steve,

Never used Accounts Portal but from what I have heard its a good cheaper option. KashFlow, Xero and FreeAgent Central are what I consider to be the big three in online accounting. You might want to take a free trial with them before making a decision.

I use FreeAgent because I like the UI and it' so easy to use, it make's keeping to the company books quick and easy. If you like FreeAgent there are discount links/codes to get ongoing discounts on the monthly fees. If you can refer other users to the software, you can gain further discounts.

Yes very highly - its the package my firm uses and has many clients using.

It's easy to use, very reliable, does the job and support on the rare instances its needed is (in my experience) faultless.

I think its a super package and very fairly priced (we can offer it to our clients at a discount too:))

Hello Steve,

I have just bought a copy of NCH Express Accounts. Seems simple enough to use, but dont know where to start. Did you finally manage to get your installation working. Any pointers on what to do?

BTW is there a manual that one gets to use for this software or a wizard for setup

Regards
