I just got the UKBusinessForum email through and there was the link to GoCardless for direct debits
I have a couple of products that are subscription based, and I've been using PayPal Subscriptions for (not the best)
I have thought about Direct Debit and was considering approaching the banks to see how it all works (I use PayPal for online shop purchases and for PayPal Here chip and pin - only thing I'm missing here is being able to take card payments over the phone (not essential yet, but would be nice to add, and allow customers to order off me by voice rather than online shop, help them feel safer) (still need to find a good service for this, PayPal and Sage seem to be expensive for this system)
But seeing GoCardless's link for Direct Debit it seems cheap, free to sign up and try... 1% charge instead of PayPals 20p+3.4% per transaction
Direct Debit guarantee better than PayPal.... plus as customers might wish to change their subscription should be easier to do on a Direct Debit
But having never heard of the company, wondering if anyone uses them? how they find them?
I was wondering if the interface allows you to set up DirectDebits in the system from people subscribing over the phone (rather than necessarily through website forms)
Do people use anything else? is there anything better?
Cheers in advance for any advice
