HI what do you all use to keep track of orders?

Jay,
Most people will use some form of e-commerce software to drive their site which will keep track of orders for them.

A couple of those around are oscommerce and actinic a quick google on either of those terms will tell you all you need to know.

I input everything onto Sage.

We use ClientExec for one company and Modernbill for another, both designed for the hosting market but easily modified for other uses.

hello,

I use lotus notes and Domino with paypal. Once someone has paid with paypal it automatically create an entry in my lotus notes database.
If someone pay by cheque I can just create an entry myself in the database.
My database is also the my website so I can easily add new products all the time.

Most of the e-commerce software systems include some form of order processing and tracking as standard, so that may be sufficient for your needs.

We have Worldpay reports and our own custom scripts then a accounts lady to match everything up

We developed a simple online store http://www.kidspcgames.co.uk that uses XML and SOAP (web services etc) to connect to the payment gateway provider (http://www.secpay.com) and the supplier who ships the product.

Tech stuff:
This is a dropship business model - When an order is placed on the site - the order is sent to the supplier. The supplier delivers the product direct to the customer and sends back dispatch notification and delivery tracking code. The system sends authorisation notice to the payment gateway to release the funds and finally sends the customer a dispatch confirmation email with delivery information ---- blah blah blah

I love it when everything comes together - this is what we call true Machine2Machine commerce.


Anyway back to you - sounds to me like that solution you have works for you - i.e. you are already able to track orders. Are you looking to change the way you work? or was your question just to find if you are doing the right time or if there is a better way of doing things?
